In 150 years, DB Schenker has evolved from a horse-drawn carriage to freighter drones, building extensive experience in supply chain management and becoming one of the worlds leading logistics service providers.

Today marks the kick-off of the corporate anniversary year, which will include a multitude of external and internal festivities, underlining the DB Schenker vision of advancing businesses and lives by shaping the way the world connects.

I am more than excited that DB Schenker celebrates its 150th birthday this year. We have been proud to serve and develop new solutions for our customers for one and a half centuries. In our anniversary year, we want to push this pioneering spirit to a new dimension by driving innovation, shaping a sustainable future, and connecting communities.

On July 1, 1872, Gottfried Schenker founded DB Schenker in Vienna in Austria. By combining individual shipments to collective consignments, his approach was a game-changing innovation for that era. Building on this legacy, the company’s reach expanded globally and into all modes of transport, with approximately 76,900 employees across more than 2,100 locations in over 130 countries.

Under the claim “150 Years Elevating Lives,” DB Schenker features an internal challenge connecting employees worldwide. The international organization will activate employees to accumulate kilometers through various mental and physical activities, which will result in monetary donations to four carefully selected charitable organizations related to the company’s commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. All donations raised in the first quarter will be given to WeForest, an environmental protection organization supporting forest conservation and further local sustainability projects in Brazil and Ethiopia. Additional charity projects selected will include ocean and air protection and social initiatives in the quarters to follow.
